Conduct project presentations and compile reports.
Provide Projects with technical content of ProjectDevelopmentandExecution Plans, including defining design andconstruction criteriaandprocurement strategies for critical items.Lease/assists End UserandProject Engineer/Architects to expand anddevelop Space/BuildingProgram, within budget constraints.
Prepare the Basis for Design (BFD), selects essential standardsforuse,identifies design throughput, policy, specifications,technicalrisks,facility safeguarding, safety and health requirementsandinfrastructurerequirements. Prepares designs in consultation withotherDisciplineEngineers, as appropriate.
Visit work sites to establish existing conditions.Reviewsapplicabilityof existing drawings, Standards and Specificationsandrecommendsappropriate changes. Contributes to the development of cost estimates.
Review all stage of design works for building andinfrastructurework,based on the approved scope of work.
Prepare design briefs for assigned Designer/ Technician andreviewandapprove their work.
Develop Scope of Work (SOW), Specifications and designcriteriaforBuilding/facilities, infrastructure for his functional areaof work,tobe included in tenders for Engineering Consultancyand/orConstruction.Provides technical input to Material Requisitions (MRs).
Review technical aspects of bids from Consulting EngineeringCompaniesandConstruction Contractors, for respective functional area ofwork.SupportProjects in identifying and assessing capability resourcesandtechnicalstrengths of Consulting Engineers, Contractors and Vendors,intheevaluation of technical bids and takes part in EvaluationCommittee meetings.
Participate in the training and development ofQatariEngineers,appropriate to his background, by sharing technicalandprocedural knowledge.
Review and endorse detailed design specifications anddrawings,submittedby Contractors, Consulting Engineers and Vendors.
Provide technical support to Projects on AV design mattersduringdetailedengineering, procurement, fabrication, testing,installationandcommissioning stages of projects, which often involvessitevisits.Reviews and comments on pre-commissioning, commissioningandstart-upprocedures and Operating and Maintenance manuals,appropriatetorespective functional area of work. Review materialsubmittalsreferredfrom Projects.

Keep abreast of current technology and state-of-the-artequipmentandactivities, by reading various trade journals, publications,bymeetingVendor Representatives and attending trade functions.Keepsabreast ofcurrent regulations of Local and National authorities.
Participate in technology development reviews todisseminatelatestrelevant technologies and technical reviews, at keystages ofProjectexecution and of Project definition, if necessary.
Deputises for Senior Manager Utilities Engineering, when required.
Identify to the Senior Utilities Engineering Manager,thedisciplineengineering time/resource requirements for all currentandplanneddesign projects assigned to him and updates this informationas necessary.
Prepare and present technical papers to Line/Senior Managementfromtimeto time to promote designs and/or strategies. Checks theadequacyofdesigns produced by others, to ensure good practiceandtechnicalquality, in terms of providingsafe/environmentallyacceptablefacilities, in compliance with theInternal codes,Standards,Principles, Practices and Specifications.Verifies that thebuilding orfacilities being designed are of adequatedimensions to houseall theequipment to be installed therein.
Support Projects with advice on technical mattersduringconstruction,including construction safety and design andconstructionof temporaryfacilities. Attends progress meetings, if required.
Prepare and present technical papers to Line/Senior Managementfromtimeto time to promote designs and/or strategies. Checks theadequacyofdesigns produced by others, to ensure technical quality, intermsofproviding commissioning and testing
Qualifications and Knowledge:
Bachelor in a relevant Engineering discipline and/or Computer Science, Telecommunications, Audio Visual Technology.
Minimum 12 years relevant experience in the design of Audio Visual and remote conferencing networks for small to medium scale users with working knowledge of the range of network technologies.
Solid foundation implementing and supporting Cisco, Polycom, Crestron, and other AV technologies
Experience in both planning and evaluating existing, AV network systems and architectures and make recommendations for service modifications.
Control Systems: Crestron – DM Certified Designer preferred
Teleconferencing: Polycom – Certified Video Engineer preferred), Tandberg – Certified Engineer preferred.
Cisco networks, routers and switches;
Fibre Optic and Ethernet Cabling;
Testing and commissioning systems;
Middle East experience desirable.
Ability to maintain frequent contacts with Lead, Senior Design, Senior Contract/ Senior Planning/ Senior Cost Engineers and supervisors at all levels throughout the Corporation;
During conceptual and detailed design stages of projects to exchange information, provide technical input or assistance. Regular contacts with Design Consultants for work, government departments as required obtaining completion certificates
To discuss their requirements and to coordinate design, and with senior project engineers for the preparation and review of technical packages and the provision of technical advice.
